Online communities where I’m active include the venerable Copy Editing List; LinkedIn and Twitter (although I should up my activity in both); a Yahoo group for DC-area colleagues; a Google group for freelancers; and Facebook groups for colleagues, such as the Editors Association of Earth and its offshoots, and several “Binders” (as in “binders full of women”) groups – for writers, editors, publishers, etc. Some of my professional organizations also have Facebook and LinkedIn groups in addition to their own e-mail discussion groups and online forums.
