    Welcome to my website!
As an editor with over 20 years of experience, born and educated in the UK, I have a B.A. in English Language and Literature. I specialize in editing across all genres. I am an award-winning editor for the Military Writers Society of America (MWSA), whose magazine, Dispatches, won the National Federation of Press Women’s (NFPW) At-Large 2026 Communications Contest in Editing, and I am also a member of NAIWE (National Association of Independent Writers & Editors).
My portfolio includes books on self-help, personal development, spiritual and motivational books, how-to books, autobiographies and biographies, poetry and children’s books, young adult fantasy, mystery/thriller, paranormal, romance, erotica, real estate and management books for business professionals, a travel guide translated from Russian, and traffic school curricula. I also edited a business blog, The Scrum Master Tales, several years ago.
Although I work primarily as an editor, proofreader, and formatter, I have also ghostwritten a book from the author’s notes, written and rewritten over 200 SEO articles and website content for various blogs, and written the ending for a science fiction novel. In addition, I created a children’s play based on the story, Panda’s Song, at the author’s request, which has been performed throughout the UK. I have also written articles for an Italian destination website, BeA Alfresco Wedding.
I love what I do, and strive to make my clients’ work engage the reader’s interest from the first sentence, whilst treating their work sympathetically. My job does not end when the project is complete; I keep in touch with many of my clients and am available for advice on formatting, publishing, and marketing.
I often work on Upwork.com (where I have a 95% rating with 5-star reviews, as not all clients leave feedback) while also taking care of my private clients, referrals, and the publisher I work with. I use the Track Changes feature in MS Word to show spelling and grammar errors and insert comments to point out any irregularities or plot inconsistencies in works of fiction. I read every word of a manuscript as I edit for content and flow, and I always ensure that I keep the author’s unique voice and tone. As you can see from my portfolio, I have edited books across many genres, all of which have been published.
For more information, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me at samgrimes@hotmail.com or check my profile on Upwork.com.
Please check my Portfolio page for some of the books I have worked on and my Testimonials page for client reviews.
