Description

Editor of fiction works in genres of fantasy, YA, paranormal and paranormal romance, historical fiction and mysteries, steampunk, and some contemporary genres. I also offer manuscript critiques and a first 100 pages critique as smaller-scope options.

As with many editors, part of my journey also includes writing. My blog series, The Collection of Huphaea, catalogs the creation of the fantasy world where the characters in my head reside, biding their time until I write them into existence. If you’re curious, you can find those episodes at https://sunbookhome.wpcomstaging.com/.

I approach editing as a partnership with a client built on communication, respect, and trust. My aim is to assist authors in pursuing their publishing goals, challenging them to dig deep into their imaginations and writing craft toolkits to uncover the gold at the heart of their story.

Writing a novel is a journey of discovery, change, and ultimately, growth. An author transforms ideas through pen and ink into characters, settings, themes, and emotions that another mind can embrace. My contribution as an editor is to guide the refinement of these elements into potent form for the most entertaining and memorable reader experience possible.

How can I help you on your publishing journey?

For nonfiction writers of plant-related topics, I am a green-fingered plant geek who applies 25 years as a horticulturist and a lifetime on the farm to editing.

Focused on detail, yet able to adapt to changing circumstances, I am ready to work with your content. I have a mind full of Latin plant names, how to grow them, pathogens and remedies, and environmental factors. Genetics, chemicals, and equipment (hand or fuel-powered) are familiar topics as well. If it grows in soil, air, or water, I understand it.

I still dig in the dirt regularly, to keep my nails dirty, skills sharp, and because I can’t resist. The rest of the time, my mind is usually getting lost in a fantasy novel or watching English Premier League soccer. My other interests include my dogs, raising chickens and turkeys, playing soccer, fitness- including running, TRX, yoga, HIIT, cycling, hiking, and paleo cooking/baking.

With both endeavors, my goal is to help you cultivate your ideas, words, and drafts into their most publishable form.
